HARBOR BOARD.
The Harbor Board met at the Superintendent’s office to-day at noon; present—his Honor the Superintendent (in the chair), Messrs Davie, M'Dermid, M‘Neil, Mercer, Neill, Ramsay, D. Reid, Tewsley, Thomson, and Mr Stout, solicitor to the Board.
The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.
Letters were read, making application to the Board for employment. The sub-committee appointed to draw up a code ef bye-laws presented their report, with the bye-laws they had framed. On the motion of Mr Trwslet, seconded by Mr Davie, the bye-laws were approved and passed. Telegrams were read which hvd passed between his Honor and the Executive in Wellington relative to assent bring given to the Ordinance constituting the Board. On t'ie motion of Mr Davie, seconded by Mr Neill, it was resolved that his Honor and Mr D. Reid, M. H. R., be requested to wait on the Colonial Executive te ascertain their views as to laying plans for harbor works before the Executive Council, and also as te the delegation of the powers under the Marine Act to the Board. On the motion of Mr D. Reid, seconded by Mr Ramsat, Messrs M’Neil, Davie, Neill, and Thomson were appointed a Finance Committee, with instructions to report te the Board from time to time.
Mr Tewslbt moved, and Mr M'Neil seconded that applications be invited for the offices of engineer and secretary to the Board. Mr D. Reid moved as an addition that Messrs Mercer, R,eeves, M‘Dennid, and Tewsley be appointed a Sub-Committee to draw up terms of an advertisement for those offices, and to report to the next meeting of the Board. The motion, as amended was carried, and the Board adjourned to Saturday next at noon.
