The coasters Maid of Otago, Cambria, and Trial arrived yesterday. The Beautiful Star left for Lyttelton and intermediate ports last night. From some unexplained cause our usual shipping despatches from the Port, with the accounts of the shipping movements, have not come to hand to-day. The Auckland Steam Packet Co.’s Star of the South sailed last night. She is to call at the several Provincial Ports, and, no doubt, will be a full ship by the time she leaves Auckland for Fiji No time was lost yesterday in despatching the steamer, Albion on her return trip to Melbourne, via Northern Ports. The Suez mail* which she brought across, was transhipped into the City of Adelaide, which vessel will distribute it among the different Provinces, The Melbourne ‘Argus’ of June 23 has the fallowing:—“ The Easby, which has arrived in port, is a large iron screw-steamer of 969 tons register, and is intended by her owner, Mr Fulton, of Dunedin, for trading between that fort and Newcastle. She is evidently meaut or a cargo vessel, from her large stowage ■pace, and for the carriage of coals, or grain, or live stock she is well adapted. This new addition to the steam marine of New Zealand was built in 1873 at Stockton-on-Tees by Messrs Richardson and Duck, so that she is comparatively a new vessel. She measures in length 257 ft over all, with a beam of 32ft and a depth of hold of 21ft 6in, and she is driven by engines of 140-horse power nominal. There is a small 'but neatly-furnished cabin aft, which can accommodate about a dozen passengers ;-but forward of this there is space which could be fitted for a hundred. She is schooner-rigged, and in general appearance is not unlike the steamer Jason, which was here recently.” The Easby met with heavy weather on her voyage out, and put in at the Cape for water. As soon as her cargo is discharged she will leave for Dunedin by way of Newcastle.
