SUBURBAN AND TOWN PROPERTY,

Messrs Connell and Moodie report:— In suburban lands the owners appear disposed to hold for extreme prices. Town property has advanced to what may be regarded as extreme prices, especially for choice business sites. We have sold the ground and building lately occupied by Messrs D. Baxter and Co., with frontage to High street of 25ft, by depth of 40ft (opposite Railway Station) to the Dunedin Savings Bank, for L 3.000; a«d we learn that the Colonial Bank has purchased the ground and building now used as offices by Messrs Driver, Stewart, and Co, from Mr B. Hallenstein (40ft frontage, by 60ft depth), for the sum of L 6,000, Really good building sites for private residences are scarce within the limits of City boundary, at from L2OO to L4OO per acre, and for small subdivisions a rate even higher has been obtained. Good suburban sites close to town are scarce, at from LIOO to L2OO per quarter-acre. We have sold at the latter rate within the last week.
