Auckland, June 30. The Luna has sailed, with Mr OT.orke, the Superintendent, Messrs Sheehan, Swanson Buckland, May, and Kenny, as passengers. The inquiry into the conduct of the doctor of the Loch Awe is concluded. Three witnesses were called by the doctor to show he attended them during sickness, and showed great kindness and gentlemanly behaviour. The depositions will be forwarded to Wellington.

Gret mouth, June 30. _ The Tararua, Capt. Clarke, arrived off Hokitika at sa, m. to-day. She was not tendered there, owing to no steamer being available, so came on here, and was tendered at 11 a.m., but the steamer could not return to port until 9 p.m. The Tararua left Hobson’s Bay at 10.30 a. m on the 25th, and experienced strong head winds during the voyage. She brings ten saloon and forty-nine steerage passengers, 186 tons cargo, and twenty horses, for all ports.

Christshurch, July 1. In the Provincial Council last night Mr MaskelTs motion that Sunday trains be run on the country lines of railway was negatived by 19 to 12. The opinion expressed was that no necessity exists for Sunday trains, except between Christchurch and Lyttelton, Notwithstanding the large influx of immigrants they are finding work pretty readily, but gnat difficulty exists from want of house accommedation in the country districts, and the Provincial Council passed a resolution last night requesting the General Government to erect more immigration barracks. Six Bank of N. Z. shares sold at auction yesterday for 12s 6d each.
