Ten thousand copies of the third volume of Forsters Dickens were sold in England within ten days of publication. A tornado passed diagonally from west to t * hrol J gh .^ asllville , Tennessee, oa the lota April, seriously damaging and crushing a iarge number of stores and residences. The tornado was about a quarter of a mile in width, aud moved with fearful force, crushing the fronts of large building as though tuey were paper bundles. A livery stable—a large structure, filled with horses, waggons, and large quantities of feed—was blown off its foundations into the backwater from the river, drowning a number of horses, and, it is thought, one man. It is impossible now to estimate the number of buildings damaged, but the loss will exceed 100,000 del in the city. It has been feqred there has been serious loss of life and damage to property along the track of the storm in the country.
