THE HINDOSTAN.
To the Editor. In re the Hiudostan, allow me to support the statement of “Londoner.” 1 also saw her in London loading for Auckland. Further, I boarded her on her arrival in Auckland, as 1 knew her worthy captain, home of the material I used in my notes on “Immigration” a short time back, was got from the examination I then made of her immigrants. The Hindostan I refer to was in command of Uapcain Peek and ■'urgeonSuperinteiident Walker. She was chartered from the N.Z, Shipping Company, and left Auckland with wool, kauri gum, and tallow, about the beginning of last April, i am, &c, , Observer Dunedin, June 26. [lt appears on further inquiry that “Lon doner” was right. Bub thexe are two Hindoatans trading to New Zealand. The one our correspondent referred to is commanded by Captain Peek, is chartered by the New Zealand Shipping Co., and is a trader to Auckland. The other snip, now on her way to this Port, ia owned by Shaw, Savill, and Co., and commanded by Captain William White.— Ed. E.S.]
