THE SHOTOVER TERRACE GOLD MINING COMPANY.
To the Editor. Sir, —Will you kindly allow me to contradict the assertions as to this company contained in an extract from the ‘ Wakatip Mail’ quoted in last night’s Star ? It is not the case that forty actions, or any actions whatever, have been raised against the company, and it is equally untrue that last month’s wages are unpaid. The directors here last week forwarded the amount of the pay-sheet to the Queenstown Board, and I have a telegram from the Chairman that it had been received and paid. I take the opportunity of asking yon to allow the following telegram just received from the local secretary to appear in your paper : r Malaghan, M'Bride (two directors), and myself visited the mine, and conclude that it is not pi operly worked at present. Grace and party consisting of nine, have offered to work the claim for six weeks—to prospect deep ground and guarantee to give an idea of what deep ground really is. The directors have approved ol tins, and expect good results. • -I am, &c , Geo. Grant, T Legal Manager. Dunedin, June 23.
