'Che amount of revenue received at the Ous-tisu-house ox t,oods cleared for consumption was this day L 547 7s 3d. # We understand that sections in the Glen are rising in value very fast, and we hear of several having changed hands at very high premiums. On Wednesday, Messrs Whitelaw and Co. offered the sugars per Farningham for sale; and yesterday Messrs M‘Landress and Co. put up at auction 4,500 pockets of Maritius. Owing to the full stocks held by the trade but very few sales were effected. Of the Farningham’s cargo a small parcel of ration sugar was placed at L 22 10s; a line of brewers’ crystals realised L 32 10s; and one of good white, L 35 10s. Yesterday similar dulness in demand was manifested, and the transactions were confined to the sale of a parcel of white crystals at L 36. In brandy the market has been very active ; large parcels of Hennessy’s, both in bulk and case, have changed hands at considerably advanced rates; and as advances from Home quote as high as from 10s to 10a 6d, importers not inclined to press sales. Kerosene, which in consequence of short supply ruled high for some time past, is lower ; the arrival of three vessels, now in the harbor, having stocked the market _ fully. Sales have been made of parcels deliverable from the railway shod at Is lid, in bond. Candles realise lid; currants, 4d per lb. Both these articles, however, are quoted higher at Home, and therefore an advance is probable. Butter and cheese remained unchanged, and dairy produce of all classes may be considered steady. THE LABOR MARKET. Mr Skene reports : —There is a good supply labor in the market this week, although there is a complete dearth of ploughmen, and upwards of twenty fanners have had to go away without them. Women servants are as difficult to be had as ever, and really good girls get splendid wages. Men employed in the building trades are seemingly satisfied, and such a thing as an idle mason or carpenter, &c., is not known. All indoor tradesmen are fully employed ; the winter being on us, shoemakers and tailors should be making their harvest. A good many day laborers are out of work, but it is folly for such to look for anything but miserable, broken work in townplenty of good chances for them in the country. Engagements have been made during the week at the following rates —Female cooks, L 52 and upwards ; housekeepers and barmaids, L 45 to L 5 2; general servants, from L 39 to L4O and L 4 5; young girls, 7s to 10s per week; farm hands run from L 55 to L 65 ; if married, L7O to L9O, wife to cook, &c; new arrivals are on a lower scale. Masons, carpenters, &c., may be put down at an average of 14s per day; day laborers, from 8s to 10s per day; gardeners, L 65 and L7O by the year —the Colony is scarjj ripe yet for many high class gardeners. Youths are not to be got for shops, offices, and light carts on any terms —where are they ? [By Telegraph.] Melbourne, June 13. —The markets are very dull, and money stringent. A late London telegram stated that candles and fruits were dearer* Breadstuffs remained unchanged. Wheat, prime, 6s fid to 6s 7d. Oats selling freely at 5s 4d, good feeding. Bisquet’s brandy sold at 3d less, and in Hennessy’g case there is also a reduction. Sugars are not so firm. Devoe’s oil is very dull,, at la 4£d.
