Tuesday, June 16. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.) The Licensing Ordinance.—John Collie, grocer, was charged by Revenue-officer Lumb with selling spirituous liquor without a license, the latter stating that be seized the spirits on account of accused not having got a transfer of license when he dissolved partnership. The information was dismissed. Assault.—Bridget Clarey charged a young woman named M‘Leod with striking her. The evidence was very conflicting, and the case was dismissed, as was also a charge brought by Anue Barry, an “Asiatic,” against Clarey.

Wednesday, June 17. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.) Drunkenness. —John Ramage, whose face was greatly disfigured, which his Worship considered sufficient punishment for his misconduct, was discharged. Miles Leighton was fined with, the option of forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. 6 Breach of the Peace.— For conducting himself in Princes street in a manner calculated to provoke a breach of the peace, Peter Kane was fined 20s, in default six days’ imprisonment. Neglected Children. —Anne (5), Jbremiah (7), and John (9) Callaghan were charged with being neglected children.— They were found by Crnstable Doran wandering m King street, and had no place of residence. The father had deserted the family, and the mother was arrested for lunacy.—John was committed to the Industrial bchool for five years, Jeremiah and Anne for seven years-to be instructed in the Homan Catholic form of persuasion. CIVIL CASES, Lear v. Shaw.-Claim 9s, for boots sold. —Case dismissed. Milier v. Hanson —Claim L 77 3s, on dishonored bill and cheque.—Judgment went by default, with coats. Ford y. Ross.—Claim LlO, for illegally impounding and using one bay mare, the property of plaintiff. Mr' Bathgate appeared for plaintiff.—The mare had been placed out to agist at Anderson’s Ray by Ford, and some days after he found that she had got out of the paddock. After searching for her for some days he found her in defendant’s possession, and it was alleged that he had used her.—His Worship gave judgment for 40s and costs. :
