The ketch Grace arrived this morning from Waikouaiti, The s.s. Wellington sailed for the North yesterday afternood. • The brigs Emily and Isabella, for Newcastle, will be towed to sea this afternoon. The ship Trevelyan, for Newcastle, was towed to sea this morning by the Geelong. The s.s._ Wanganui came down from Dunedin this morning, coaled and loaded transhipments, and sailed for the Bluff this afternoon. The brigantine Kate Brain, having received a thorough overhaul, was taken out of the float* ingdock this morning, and will be towed to Dunedin by the s.s, Jrne this evening. A number of the Atrato’s immigrants were taken from the Quarantine Island by the p.s. Peninsula to the railway pier this morning, and conveyed to Dunedin by the 11.30 train. Yesterday afternoon the Geelong towed the barque William Gifford to an anchorage off the railway pier, after a rather lengthy passage from New York. She is a good-looking barque of 250 tons register, and was built expressly for a whaler. She has a great deal of her whaling gear now on board, and is in the market. Reports leaving New York on the 14th of February ; experienced light and baffling winds until catching the N.E. trades in lat. 35.24 N.; they continued until reaching the Equator, whicn was crossed on the 20th March in long. 25.30 W. ; the S.E. trades were caught in lat. 1.19 S., and were good, and lasted until the Bth April, in lat. 32.55;, sighted the Island- of Trinidad on the 28th March; on the 10th April she met the westerlies, and got a steady breeze from the N.W.; the meridian of Greenwich was crossed on the 14th, and that of the Cape bn the 20th with a good breeze; on the 26th the breeze freshened to a strong gale, which continued for three days, accompanied with heavy squalls and rain with a heavy se» ; the barque was hove-to under the mizen-staysail the whole of the three days; on the 29th it moderated, and the vessel was put on her course; from thence had heavy weather from the N. to W.S.W., the vessel being under small sails untU sighting the Snares on Saturday last; had westerly winds along the Coast, and was off Otago Heads on Monday; the breeze then freshened to a gale, and the barque was driven north ; made the Heads again yesterday, and was towed up as abo :e. . London, June 5.—-The Great Britain sailed for Melbourne on the 4thinst.
