The p.s., Samson arrived from Oamaru last Might, and steamed alongside the Wild Deer to discharge. The brig Emily has been towed up from the lower anchorage alongside the hulk Cincinnati, to discharge her coal. Yesterday afternoon a barque was seen off the Heads, but her name has not been made out. No signal was made for a tug. The s.s. Wanganui came down from Dunedin, took on board a number of immigrants from the ship Buckinghamshire, and sailed for the Bluff last night. The p.s. Peninsula to-day transhipped a number of Chinese from the railway pier to the ship Undine, which vessel sails direct for China. The s.B. Ladybird arrived from the North at 9 o’clock this morning with a large number of passengers. She has on board 1,044 sacks of wheat for transhipment to the ship Wild Deer. In coming up to go alongside the Wild Deer she kept too close to the bank, and unfortunately took the ground astern of the ship, when, as the tide was ebbing, she remained ; but will probably get off at high water. She reports leaving the Manakau at 2 p. m. on the 27th, and calling at Taranaki, Nelson, Picton, Wellington, Lyttleton, and Timaru. Experienced heavy northerly weather during the pas sige. We are indebted to her purser (Mr Dougherty) for report and files.
