The amoun of revenue received at the Cub toxi-house on floods cleared for consumption was this day, 1,1,013 3s 3d. Mr Adam Begg, of Anderson’s Bay, is reported by the ‘ Bruce Herald’ to have purchased Mr Maitland’s freehold estate of 17 000 acres .on the banks of the Molyneux for L 52,000, stock being taken at valuation. , Whitelaw and Co. have to report the following sales of shares by auction, and privately on mtnrday last, viz. :—Guardian Newspaper, 21s bd; South British Insurance, 49s j .National fe? ura ? ce > 30a 6d; Shotover Mining Company Us > Forbury Park Company, * fhey have been requested to offer shares at a fair upset price, and have agreed to adopt this suggestion on Saturday next.

The revenue collected at the Port of Dunedin for the month ending May 31, was L 26,502 19s 2d, as against L 22,367 14s 4d for the corresponding period of last year. The month’s gold duty was L67316s 3d. The first sale of sugars from the new sugar refinery at Yarraville, the property of Messrs Joshua 'Bros., of Melbourne, took place to-day at the rooms of M'Landress, Hepburn, and Co., when the entire shipment of 3,528 mats was disposed of, at fair prices. The quality of the sugar is considered decidedly superior, and there was a full attendance of the trade. The sale of Balclutha town sections, yesterday, by Messrs Driver, Stewart, and Co. (Mr R. Grigor), comprising three lots of 26| feet frontage, along a depth of 250 links, adjoining the Crown Hotel, was well attended, and the bidding spirited. A total of L4BB was realised for half an acre of land, or at the rate of very close upon Ll,ooo per acre.
