The amoun of revenue received at the Cub-lorn-house on y.oods cleared for consumption traa this day. L 237 7s 3d. . Messrs M’Landress, Hepburn, and Co. sold this day nine sections of land, situated in block 37, Dunedin, and having frontage to Clyde, St. David, and Forth streets. The attendance was large, and the bidding spirited, unusually large prices being obtained. Up to 3.40 p.in., at Which hour the sale had not concluded, 22 sectiotis had been sold for L1,708 t the highest price obtained for one section being Llßo, and the lowest the reserve, L7O. The sections fronting Forth street fetched the highest prices. Messrs Whitelaw and Co. held a sale of mining shares in their rooms to-day. The companies in which sales were effected and their prices were:—National Insurance Company, 30a ; Standard Insurance Company, 15s 3d; Shotover Mining Company, 10s 6d. This firm intends holding similar sales weekly. There has been a considerable amount of business during the week, the fine weather, doubtless, giving an impetus to trade. The telegraphic advices with reference to the French vineyards has caused a rise in brandy of ten per cent, as in Melbourne. As regards other spirits, the demand has been active, especially for Geneva, of which the market is very short. There is no other movement of importance to chronicle. SHARE MARKET. Mr Hooper The share market is Still extremely inactive. The general cry amortgat shareholders is .“there is nothing doing.” The advance which took place last Week in Shotover Terrace shares is still maintained ; present price 13s. Arrow River GoldJninmg, ss. Garrick Range Quartz-mining are Improving. Star of the East shares have made extraordinary rise from L2 to L 7. Elizabeth shares, on the same line, L2 3s. Other stock , same as last week. (BtTelegbaph.) i May 22.—The wheat market Is firmer owing to recent advances in Melbourne, hut Hie material rise checked the dull state of the English market. Stocks in second hands are moderately light. Several shipments have gone forward to Auckland during the week and one or two from Timaru to Sydney. Farmers are getting 4s 6d to 4s Bd, millers giving the latter price. Prime samples of flour, Ll2- • L 6 ss; sharps, L6los per ton. Bran and oatmeal the same as last week. Several shipments for Melbourne, and of average quality, have been sent coastwise. Farmers are receiving 4s 2d. to 4s 3d. . Auckland, May 23.-The Stock and Minin* Association s weeklyreport states that the deck® ration of a dividend by the National Insurance Company met with general disapproval in Anckknd, and accounts for the decline in price of the company’s stock.
