Thursday, May 21. (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.) Drunkenness.—Mary O’Leary, who conducted herself iu a very disorderly manner While in the box, and who while working at Carrolls hotel had helped herself to the drink in the bar, and then became very abusive, was fined 10s and costs. •X. A *T KA^ cy ‘ Neß y King was charged with having no visible means of snoport.— Constable Mee said he had known prisoner, who lived in a house of ill fame for the past twelve months—Sub-Inspector Mallard said while he was on duty in Stafford street yesteraay, he saw a little girl leave prisoner’s house with a bottle, and go to a neighboring public-house. At the time he was under the apprehension that King had sent the child, but he afterwards ascertained that the latter was sent by her mother. Knowing these women were m the habit of sending children to public-houses for beer, he thought it his duty to have the matter made public. King. a i5 Ule * i Woman her class.—Prisoner said she got money from the father of her illegitimate child,—Hia Worship said a minier of women «f the class to which prisoner elonged were in the habit of sending girls o tender years 'to hotels for spirits or intoxicating liquors. Any publican found so selling wou;d be certain to lose hia license.-&ub-Inspector Mallard ; I took a note of the house the girl went to.—His orehip added that ha wished all those who Kept public-houses to know that they must not sell drink to children. Prisoner was discharged with a caution. Larrikxnxsm. —Albert Tiltman, about eight years old, was charged with assaultJohn Hughes. Prisoner admitted the ottence—that ef squirting water over complainant,—His Worship said that no boy should assault another boy smaller than him--6e “* Bailiff Hughes explained that no boy was assaulted, as the assault had been committed on him. (Laughter.)-His Worship, without hearing evidence, dismissed the case.
