, , Auckland, May 16. Mr Buckland, M.H.R., contradicts the statement that he dined with Mr Macfarlane during the adjournment of the Court yesterday. He says he was passing through the room after dining when a person sitting at the same table as Mr Macfarlane beckoned to him. He went and sat down : at the table for a few minutes, and went put alone. . , Napier, May 16. Mr Benjamin Butler, road contractor, was drowned yesterday while crossing the Paterson river.
