The schooner Bencleuch Has finished taking on board transhipments from the Himalaya. The schooner Janet Ramsay, which putin on Sunday for repairs, sailed again this morning for Oamaru.
The s.B. Omeo will be due at Port Chalmers to-morrow, and will leave for Melbourne, via the Bluff on Saturday. The repairs to the brigantine Sarah and Maty being- completed, she was taken out of the Graving Dock this morning. Messrs Houghton and Oo.’a s.s. Wanganui, after taking on board transhipments from the Trevelyan, sailed last night with a large number of passengers for the Bluff. The Australasian and American mail steamship Cyphrenes, expected to-morrow morning, will have a short stay here. Her passengers and mails will be conveyed by the .730 a.m. train to-morrow to the Fort.
The ship City of Tanjore, reported in our last issue sub having arrived from Glasgow, is a sister ship to the City of Dublin, and is owned by Messrs Smith and Son, of Glasgow, and chartered for the present voyage by Messrs Patrick, Henderson. She is an iron ship of 799 tons, and has a flush deck fore-and-aft. After being cleared by the Health and Customs officers, her passengers were conveyed to Dunedin by the p.s. Golden Age. Shereports.leaving Greenock on the 24th of January; took her final departure from Small’s Light on the 27th, and caught the N.E. trades in lat. 26.39 N.; they were only moderate, and were lost on the 18th February, in lat. 9.44 N,; had a long spell of hght weather, and calms, and , crossed the Equator bn the 25th, in, long. 2137 W. The S.B; trades were met with the next day, in lat. 1.30 S. ; they were well from the northward, and were lost on the 9th March, in lut. 25 S. • sighted the Island of Tristan D’Acunha on the 14th; than a continuation of N.E. and easterly winds until reaching the meridian of Greenwich on the 19th of March in lat. 385.: crossed the meridian of the Cape of . Good Hope on the 23rd; then encountered a heavy gale from the S.E., which continued until the 25th, the vessel’s head reaching under the three lower topsails; the weather moderated again on the 26th; then easterly weather until picking up the westerlies on the Ist of April; her easting was made in lat. 475.; on the 21st, when in lat. 49.245., long. 132.40 N., the wind suddenly drifted to the eastward and increased to a hurricane ; the ship was at once hove-to, there being a very high sea on, and the barometer being at 28.24; on the 23rd had fine'weather from the eastward, which lasted until making the Snares on the 3rd of May; passed Stewarts Island on the 4th; had variable winds along the coast, and made the Heads on Tuesdffmght, aftera somewhat lengthy passage ’of
