■■ ■ Wellington, May 6. Messrs Steele and Keogh, actors, sent a lawyer’s letter to the ‘ Tribune,’ demanding an apology for a very severe paragraph upon the Company, which appeared last night. The Tribune ’ declines to make an apology.
- . Auckland, May 6. Three informations against Mr J. S. Macfarlane, merchant, charging him with inciting Thomas Craig and Andrew Craig to murder C. A. Harris, jun., have been sworn to. The case will be heard at the Police Court on Friday. The ‘ Southern Cross ’ Newspaper Company have declared a dividend of 10 per cent.
_ , ~ . Nelson, May 6. Me the Hokitika Tramway Co. v. the Westland Government, judgment was given to-day by Judge Richmond in favor of the defendants; the rule for setting aside a recent verdict for the plaintiff being made absolute, but without costs.
. Lyttelton, May 6. The ship Apelles has arrived, 94 days out from Start Point. She brings 305 souls, equal to 245 statute adults. Reports one birth, and no deaths on the voyage. , ‘ ’
