WASTE LAND BOARD.
The usual weekly meeting of the Board was held to-day ; present, the Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, Bntterworth, Clarke, and Strode.
Mr W. J. Dyer applied, on behalf of Mr James Pettigrew, for a rehearing df his application to purchase sections 23, 24, and 44, block 4, Table Hill. Agreed to ; spoliation to be received and granted under clause 73. . Captain M'Kenzie was declared the purchaser of sections 12, 13, and 16, block 7, Glenkeoich. Mr Stephen Tail’s application to purchase sections 6, block I, and 1, block 2, Woodlands, was declared r- ceived. Mr H, Gunn applied to purchase nine acres of open land in the bush reserve, block 1, vVarepa, adjo ning section. lof 3, held by him. Refused. ' Mr G. t look, for Sir P. D. Bell, asked the decision as to whether he could exercise his pre-emptive right for runs 80 and 109, within the block in Shag Valley recently added to the goldfield. To make his selections at the Naseby office, as agricultural leases within geldfields ; freeholds outside. Mr T. or. Hungerford wrote relative to the clearing of timber at the “Catlln’s River free selection,” by the sub-contractor for the sawmills Keferred to Ranker Hughan, who is to act as he sees necessary. Mr Wm. Kennard applied to purchase twenty-five or thirty acres of the Goodwood bush reserve, adjoining his property. To be referred to the Ranger for advice. The Baw’ksbury Road Board applied to cut timber in the bush reserve, for repairing culverts, &c. Declined ; applicants to obtain their timber in the usual way. Mr de Latour was appointed, subject to his consent, a merabe- ot the JSaseby Land District Board of lu-jqiry, . ( '•'be application of Mr George Miller, to exchange the following leases under clause 62, was approved section 3, block 17, and section 1, block lb, Shotover. The application of Mr B. HalleUstein, to purchase the following lands held under agricultural leases, was approved—sections 22, 23, 58, 71, .72, 73, 103, 80, 109, block 5 : 16, 7, 17, and 64, block 4; 14, 56, 24, 68, 69, and 28, block 6 : 12, and 96, block 5. Mr Denis O’Halloran applied to purchase the remainder of block 21, Hawkesbury. The Board decided that they had no power. Mr John Lawson applied for a lease of the bush reserve,, section 29/ block 2, Maugatua. Refused. '
The Chief Surveyor reported on Mr Murray’s application to purchase 50 acres at Sutton Stream. Application to be received; The Chief Surveyor reported on Mr John Wood’s application for S2O acres at Waikaia. Refused/’ •‘ •
Mr J. B. Pope applied for 10 acres at Blue Spur, Mr Mowat appearing on, his behalf. Refused,
Mr W. J. Barry wrote relative to the Moke Greek copper lode, which he alleged the lessees- -Messrs Bradshaw and Howorth y-had never worked. If lease be not signed immediately on presentation, the ground to be opened to the public.
