THE CENSUS.
The census returns are not published so quickly as they should be. The Otago returns have been published in full; and we have information by telegraph of the totals of some of the Provinces. These we give as follows
44,134 This brings the population of the Colony, exclusive of Westland, the returns of which, are not yet published, up to 300,527.
