Sir,— Having attended the meetings held in the Masonic Hall this week, 1 was very ®ftph struck with the nojsy .demonstrations w|uch greeted ; -the apWardnce !of a gentleraan'wbo, 1 understand, is an aspirant tb the mayoralty of the Cito. Near me sat a little man of sallqw /complexion, armed with a stick out of all proportion to his size, who, when the aforesaid gentleman appeared on the platform or made any particular point in his speech, led off with a tremendous knocking on the floor with his big stick. This started off a number of other admirers throughout tflel hall Until lit 'swelled into a storm of applause. Of course I put the sallow little gentleman down as an enthusiastic of the .speaker* Atf f 9 riper meetings I .am led to understand'the sainc occurrences took place, which leads to thl conclusion that we have a well organised gang oT ctticquirs i established in - Dunedinj with the little man with the big stick acting as fugleman,—l am. &c., _ - ; Observer.
