WASTE LAND BOARD.
The usual weekly meeting of the Board was held to-day ; present—the. Chief Commissioner, Messrs Bastings, Butterworth, Clark, and Strode. Mr Charles Bill’s complaint against Mr A. • r Waa a ß a i Q - considered, and it was decided that the evidence confirmed Mr Fraser’s claim. Notice was sent to Sir P. D. Bell that Mr i j * L “ ks ’ s request of the decision of the 10 ki* Application to purchase section 13, Wamemo, would be heard this day fortnight. This would apply to Sir F. D. Bell’s inquiry as to the Shag Valley land. Messrs Connell and Hoodie, on behalf of Mr James Logan, requested the Board to ask the opinion of the Attorney-General, or state a case to . the Judge of the Supreme ourt, as to the position of the contract between the Board and Mr Logan, created by Mr Logan's application to purchase sections 1 X - * Qd £ 21 to 25, block 3, Greeavale. Line Chief Commissioner retired while this case was considered ] Case to be prepared by applicant for submission to Attorney-General, and to be first sent to the Board for perusal. Applicant to pay all expenses attendant ’on such a course. _ Messrs Connell and Moodie, for Mr John Perry, requested the Board to refund the applicant’s deposit. Refused. Mr Warden Stratford intitnated the resignation of Mr H. P. M’lntosh as a member of the Board of Inquiry at Naseby, and recommended the appointment of . Mr Darid Barron, district surveyor, in his stead. Agreed to Ranger Hughan suggested a refusal of Mr C. R, Chapman’s. application to purchase section 10, block 1,. Kaitangata, a' bush reserve. Refused. A petition was received against the saleof section 46, block 2,, Hiliend, and the land was withdrawn from sale. Mr John Lawson applied for a saw-mill lease of 160 awes on the Waipori river. LBO be deposited, and the land then surveyed. Mr J. N. Wood applied to purchased© aoreson the east side of the Waikaia, under clause 36. Referred to the Chief Surveyor for his advice, : J Mr Bradshaw, for Mr Ralph Allan, applied for protection to prospect for coal on sections 12, 14, and 16, block 7, Glenkenioh. Iremußsioa granted. Mr Duncan Robertson applied to purchase eight acres, including the Balmoral Hotel, near Alexandra, under clause 85. No poWer without the runholder’s consent. 1 Messrs Gillies and Street applied to purchase section 9, block 50, Clutha, being two islands in the Clutha river. Referred to ganger for advice, and to look to a site for a bridge. Messrs Kenyon and Turton, for Mr D. Macredie, applied for a -coal lease of . two acres at Kyeburn. To wait the decision of the Government as to whether the gronud is to be reserved.
Messrs Gillies and Street, for Mr Thomas Murray, asked permission to purchase'fifty acres on run 254. Referred to Uhief Surveyor for advice.
