Thursday, April 30. (Before Oapt. Thomson, Drs Drysdale arid O’Donoghue, J.P.s.) Theft. —James Quin was charged with stealing one whip, the properly «f Donald M’Crae.—Donald M'Crae said he was in the employ of Mr Lamaoh as groom. On Tuesday evening he came down with a buggy tn the Port, and left the whip (produced), with other articles, in the buggy outside the hotel. At about ten p.m. he missed the whip.— Sergeant Neil deposed that, when he arrested the prisoner on board the ship Asia, prisonei said he found the whip at the railway.—The Bench dismissed the case, blaming the pro secutor for leaving articles about so carelesly. Drunk and Disorderly.— Daniel Beirddn,' Henry Fulton. Kobert Barratt, and Edward Norwood were, charged with th above offence on the railway platform yesterday, and were each fined 10s Or forty eight hours’; Charles Cartwright, 5s or twenty-four hours’; William Lesley, 20s oi forty-eight hours’; and for using obscemlanguage, L 5 or six weeks’. Alfred Noons, for hanging about the police station, was fined 20s or forty-eight hours’. All thes» men were seamen belonging to the ship Undine. Absent without Leave —Andrew Las sels and Edward Atkins, also belonging to the Undine, were each sentenced to fourteen days’ for this offence ; and Thomas Burns was dismissed on a charge of disobedience of lawful commands.
