RAILWAY REFRESHMENT ROOMS.

To the Editor. Sir, —The position which Mr Bathgate has taken as to the application in licensing the railway rooms is to be commended. It is to be hoped the Bench will not grant licenses to these rooms without a stipulation that proper refreshment should be provided for travellers ,• and another point to my mind should be considered is the closing of these rooms when the last train leaves at night. It could never have been the intention of the Government when erecting them that they should be converted into, drinking cribs.—l am, &c., _ Traveller. Dunedin, April 24.
