THE CITY ELECTION.

The < polling for a member to represent Dunedin in the General Assembly in the room of Mr Bathgate, resigned, took place to-day. There was a little more excitement —principally towards the closing hour—than has been observable during recent political contests in the City. At 4.35 o’clock Mr Street announced the result as follows :
