(Extract from New Zealand Gazette, April 9, 1874.)* ISSUE OF £50,000 NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT DEBENTURES UNDER. “THE WESTLAND LOAN ACT, 1873.” Treasury, Wellington, 9lh April,-, 1874. TENDERS are invited for the purchase of the whole or any portion of Fifty Thousand Pounds New Zealand Government Debentures, issued under the Act of the Legislature of the Colony, entitled “'lhe Westland Loan Act, 1873.” By the Act above cited, the principal sum to be raised, and the interest thereon, are charged on the Consolidated Revenue of the Colony; a special block of land of 250,000 acres in extent being set apart as security to the Colony for the amount to be raised. The Tenders will be received and the Debentures issued subject to the under-men-tioned conditions :
1. The Debentures •will be payable to bearer, and will be issued in sums of not less than One Hundred Pounds each. 2. The Debentures will bear interest at the rate of 5 per cent, per annum, payable half-yearly, on the 15th day of April and the 15th day of October in each year, at the Treasury at Wellington, or at any Branch of New Zealand in New Zealand, on notice given at the Treasure one month before the due date. 3. The principal sum will be payable on the 15th day of April, 1894, at the Treasury at Wellington, or at any Branch of the Bank of New Zealand in New Zealand, at the option of the holder, six months’ notice being required, previous to maturity, of the place at which payment is desired. 4. Tenders will be opened at the Treasury at Wellington, at noon, on Friday, the Ist day of May next, in the presence of such of the tenderers as desire to be present—the minimum price under seal being first placed on the table. In the event of equal tenders being received for a sum in excess of the issue, a pro rata distribution will be made. 5. The amount tendered for must be paid at the Treasury at Wellington as under:— Five per cent, accompanying application ; the balance on or before the Bth May.
On payment of the balance of purchase money, Debentures signed by the agents ap pointed under the Act will be forwarded, a the risk of the Government, to purchasers o their nominees. Half per cent, brokerage will be allowei to brokers through whose application sale are effected.' Applications by telegraph, received no later than 10 o’clock a.m, on the Ist Maj will be accepted, provided they are accorr panied by a telegram from the Manager c any Branch or Agency of the Bank of Ne' Zealand notifying that the' necessary deposi has been paid into the Bank of New Zealan to.the credit of a loan deposit account. If no allotment be made, the 5 per ceni deposit will be returned in full; and if portion only of the amount be alloted, tt surplus will be applied in payment of tl balance.
