Wellington, April 20. An attempt is being made to float a railway carriage and wagon factory, with a capital of L 50,000, half to be called up. Tbe prospectus is to be issued in a few days. Grahamstown, April 20. An auxiliary screw-steamer was launched today at the yards of Robert Stone, Kauwaeranga named tbe Emu. Her tonnage is 280, and she is three-masted. She proceeds to Auckland to have her engines fitted, and thence to Lyttelton for a cargo of breadstuffs.
