SCOTT SCHOLARSHIP ENTERTAINMENT.
To the Editor,
bin,—-The working men, and those who are not able to gi ve a Targe subscription, have now an opportunity of showing their apprai oration ol the illustrious Sir Walter Scott in a tangible way. When it is considered how much happiness he has conferred upon all classes of men by the pleasant and profitable hours they have spent over his writings, I feel assured that many of hia admirers will be only too glad of the opportunity to patronise the entertainment on Friday next in order to give a helping hand to the founding of a bursary in connection with our Urnversity. Such a bursary will do a permanent good to the youths of Otago, as it will give a stimulus to the thirst for knowledge ©four talented boys. From the handsome and liberal manner in which the promoters of the entertainment hive been dealt with on all hands, thp ei* penaes will be very fight, so that: a Qtowddd house means a very substantial sum to the Scott Scholarship fund.—l am, &0., rv David k Hat.
