Superintendent’s Office, Dunedin. April 14, 1874, CITY ELECTIONS. To the Editor. St-H> —It appears considerable misappre- ' hension prevails concerning the answers I gave to Mr Fish’s questions relative to the Water Company’s proposed new Bill. My answers distinctly show that I am opposed to all monopolies, and that I am in favor of the waterworks being under the management of the Corporation. Since the nomination 1 have made inquiries about the provisions of the proposed Bill, and, so far as I can understand the information I have been able to obtain (for the Bill is not even drafted yet), the company mean to ask for power to borrow l 50,000 to extend their works, which means increased powers—hence astronger monopoly. Therefore, I have no hesitation in stating that, if elected, I will not support such a
measure.—l am, &c,, N. Y. A. WALES. OTAGO WASTE LANDS ACT, 1872. Land on Deferred Payments near Hvde MONDAY, 20th April, 1874.
