Smyth,Pearce, Stamper, Ancell, Orr, Broadbent ; and eleven in the steerage. Emulous, brigantine, 157. .tens, Matheson, from Kaipara. Pioneer, schooner, 22 tons, Matheson, from Shag Point. SAILED.

Golden Age conveyed the Chinese passengers from the barque Tokatea to Dunedin this morning. The Harbor Company’s p.s. Samson sailed for her usual trip to Oamaru shortly after the arrival of the 7.30 a.m. train from Dunedin. The ship Dallam Tower was unmoored this morning and will be taken in the Graving Dock this evening for the purpose of being cleaned and having her bottom painted. The Pioneer arrived this morning from Shag Point and sailed alongside the steam dredge to discharge eight tons of coal, after which she passed up to Dunedin, to discharge the remainder of her cargo, 282 bags of grain. The Rio Loge, from Liverpool for Otago, put Into Long Island Feb. 12, having experienced heavy gales from E. by S., when off Tuskar, which carried away jibboom and all headgear, jib, flvingjib, and foresail, and stove boats and topgallant bulwarks. Has three men disabled. The brigantine Emulous, from Kaipara, sailed up this morning. She left there on the 2nd instant, and arrived at the Heads on the 11th, but, on account of the heavy S.W. wind, was blown off the land. Made the Heads again yesterday afternoon, and proceeded to Dunedin to discharge her timber. On February 7, Messrs Alexander Stephen and Sons launched from their works at Lint-

house an iron screw steamer of about 400 tons, named the Bruce, and which is built to the class 90 Aat Lloyd’s. The steamer is intended for trading in New Zealand, and is being fitted With compound engines of. 90-horse power nominal, also made by the builders of the ship, and finished with all the most recent improvements. The vessel has been built for Messrs Gibbs, Bright and Co., of Liverpool,iand under the superintendence of Mr John Darling, New Zealand. The Harbor Company’s s.s. Beautiful Star arrived at 10 a.m. to-day, and steamed alongside the.Warwick to discharge 337Jeacks of grain and 23 bales of wool. She left Port halmers on the 4th, called at Oamaru, Timaru, and Akaroa, and arrived at Lyttelton on the 8th } discharged and took in cargo, and left at 2 p.m. on the 9th; on account ot a heavy S. W. gale ran for O’Kane Bay, and left again at 2.30 a.m. on the 10th; arrived at Akaroa at 6.30 ».m.; left again at 4 p.m. on the' 11th, and arrived at Timaru at 4 a,m. on the 12th : left again for Port Chalmers at 7.30 p.m.. and arrived as above. Messrs M'Meckan, Blackwood, and Co.’s s.s. Alhambra arrived from Melbourne, via West Coast and Northern ports at seven o’clock this morning. She left Port Phillip Heads on the morning of the 31st ult.; arrived off Hokitika on the 6th hast.; encountered a cross-sea with heavy ocean swell—the result of the late N. W. gales—and was unable to communicate with the shore; after beating about for some time went on to Greymouth, where the sea was even higher. Binding that tendering was impossible, proceeded to Nelson; discharged cargo and mails; left at midnight on the Bth, and had a fair run across ; left Wellington at 2 p.m. on April 10; and arrived at Lyttelton at noon on the 11th, but in consequence of not being able to procure a berth at the wharf was compelled to remain until Monday although they worked at the cargo till 12 p.m. on Saturday ; left Lyttelton at 11.30 a,m. on the 13th and arrived as above.
