Harris alias Johnson, pleaded not guilty to a charge of having no lawful means of support.—Detective Shury said prisoner was discharged from gaol in January last, after serving a sentence of mx weeks for larceny, and had been hanging about the streets ever since. On January 27,1868, he was sentenced to four mouths for larceny, His Worship; Has he not taken to any lawful means of support since 7 Witness : I have not seen him do anything since. He hod neither money nor work.— .His Worship: Has he been loafing?— Witness : Ho has.—Prisoner asked to be allowed to call witnesses to show that he had been at work, and the case was remanded till Monday. Horskwhippiko a Man.— Robert Goodison was charged, on the information o' Stephen Stamp Hutchison, with having on the 2nd >ipril, on,a public road near th< Anderson’s Bay Road, assaulted and beat hirn with intent to do him seme grievou.s bodily harm, Mr Harris appeared for omplainant, and Mr Stout defended Accused was committed for trial, and v*af admitted to bail, himself in L2OO, and twe sureties of LIOO each.
