DR. BERGGREN’S VISIT.
To the Editor. . . R) 7~^ n an^°ipa tion of the approaching Tißit of Dr Berggren, the eminent Swedish botanist, to this City, I would respectfully suggest to the members of the Otago Institute, and scientific persons generally, that it would be an appropriate tribute to that gentleman himself, and the enlightened Government which sent him to report on the flora of this country, to invite him to a conversazione, to be held, say, in the University Sl ldl ? g \ Meetm g ß of this kind have not hitherto been very successfully carried out but there is ne reason why we should notimprove on previous attempts. It would certainly be more appropriate than a dinner where mental pabulum pales before physical* and it wou!d certamiy be w<?U attended by the ladies of Dunedin, who would thus have an opportunity of learning what a truly ; agreeable institution our Institute is and also of shewing their zeal for the cause of scientific -knowledge. By inserting this' suegeation in your columns', you will oblige, sir : :A Member of the; Jjmmront. ’ * Dunedin, April 2, '
