Sib, —I notice, that certain parties in town have just received an importation 6f I'lanohettes, ■or automatic tvriting tables, said to be guided to write mysterious things by Psychic, or some other force still more mysterious. I. wonder that the importers of this strange invention dan’t adverlise their wares, as they do when they get to hand any other extraordinary article, or have an immense bargain to offer the public for their money. They ought to come out with naming advertisements, and no doubt the success would be immense—unparalleled since the introduction from far-famed Laputa of the_ celebrated . “getting machine.” for saving gentlemen’s bairns :hc trouble of get ting their lessons. Shades of ? ‘araday:.and Gulliver! ye are wanted. ,Take, my word for it, Planchctte will write; although by what means it maneges to do it nobody can tell—at least, this d pbnenb knoweth not. and saith not But this lam sure of, that if the while Planchi-tte is moving, will simply raise it in their hands off the table it will bye-atid-bye exhibit anew and a very different principle from writing.
