Betting, even against Honest John and Medora, 6 to 2 against Mistletoe and Miss Tatton, 3 to 1 against Bismarck. this was without doubt the race that gave most gratification during the meeting, more especially as there was not an approach to an accident, as was apprehended on account of this morning’s rain. A good start was made, the course being round once over one in-and-out jump opposite the grand stand, four nights of hurdles, and a water jump; then off the course over the gorse hedge by the sand hills and back again into the straight the whole to be gone round twice. Bismarck went off with the lead, but baulked at the stand jump and had to be forced through, the othees clearing it well, Miss Tatton la«t. At the opposite side of the course this last refused and was virtually out of the race. The others kept well together, Medora and Honest Jo n leading, and, with Bismarck, taking all the jumps splendidly. On coming back over the hedge into the course Bismarck came the wrong side of the flag, and had to go back, the two leaders going side by side, taking their jumps together, but Medora evidently going well within herself. Honest John, however, stuck to her well, and on entering tne straight it looked either’s race, but the latter had to be touched up, and witqout avail, Medora winning easily by seven lengths. Mistletoe was third, the others nowhere. Time, 7min. 14seo. Honest John was extremely well ridden, but has not the foot of the mare.
