Tuesday, March 24. , (Before J. Bathgate, Esq., R.M.) • , Drunkenness. —Catherine Cahill* charged with being drunk and disorderly at the Immigration. Barracks, Caversham, at 10 30 0 clock .last night, was discharged with a caution; Henry Norton, John M‘Donald,’ 1 ham as Wood, George Pearce, Michael Lappin, and Little Corray were each fined ss, with the option pftweuty-four hours’ imprisonment ; John Falser, .asked- to be discharged on the grounds of his having heen eighteen years in the Colonies, his ..first ap. pearance in Court, and yesterday being ** anniversary day,” was let off with a caution, . i Indecent Language, —Ellen Garbey, not appearing in answer to a charge of making use of indecent language, a warrant; was ordered to issue for her apprehension. , . Assault.— O’Hair V. M.‘Bride. This case, a charge of assault, was before the Court on Thursday last, when the evidence .of Dr Hultoe; was given, from which it appeared that complainant was sneering from a /swelling in the neck.—Complainant now stated that he had some words with defendant about some fowls which were damaging witness’s bricks, and on bis going into the house and shutting the door, defendant pushed open the door and entered the hoiise. A. scuffle ensued inside, defendant, being knocked down, and witness keeping him down, till defendant’s wife came up to her husband’s rescue.—Witness’s face and shins were cut and blackened.—By Mr M‘Keay: He had a gun in the house for the puvpiose of shooting the lewis, —Other evidence having been given, deftndant was fined 40s and costs.
Other . Charges. O’Hair v. Mary M 1 Bride the wife of the previous defendant, a case of assault, was dismissed, as was the ,cros| action of M‘Bride, a charge of vagrancy, usipg abusive and insulting language.
