Saturday, March 21. . (Before J. Bathgate, Esq-., &M.) Obscene Language.— Jno. Hay, for using obscene language in the passage of the Queen’s Theatre last evening, was fined 40s, with the option of thirty days’ imprisonment. ' ; Obtaining Money by False Pretences. -Dacre Bruce Barclay, a ias William Henry Bruce, was charged on remand, with obtaining from one William Alexander Bartleman, manager of the National Bank, Dunedin, the sum of L2O, with intent to cheat the Bank of the same. —Mr Branson defended.—The following additional evidence was given Cornelius Corrigan, at present accountant at the National Bank, Balclutha, stated that, on the 10th inst., he was teller at the National Bank, Dunedin. The cheque produced was presented, he befieyed, to him for payment on that day by prisoner. That was the only cheque he cashed for prisoner on that day. Not having marked the cheque, he could not state what notes were given.— This was the case.—There was a further remanded charge against the same prisoner of obtaining goods from one Dennis Sampson of the yalpe of L 4 \ with intent to cheat and defraud.—His Wopship said thst ho considered the evidence sufficient in both cages, and committed prisoner for trial on each charge. Bail would be allowed, himself in LIOO, and ft wo sureties of LSO.
