The Board declined to interfere in the matter. Messrs Connell and Moodie applied, oh behalf of Messra J, and W. M‘Farlane, to be allowed tp pav the balance bf the yearly W. M*Farlane’a new mill license. , The Board decided, that the application should be complied with. - Messrs Connell and Moodie applied, on behalf of Mr. J, M‘Farlane, for a new mill license pn block 11, Gitnkenich district, and for 160 acres under the new regulations. Messrs Connell and Moodie applied, on behalf of Mr James Hodges, for the Board to carry out its decision of January 8, 1874. The Ranger suggested the preservation of the scrub on both sides of Lake Wakatipu which was being rapidly cut down by wood cutters. Messrs Howorth and Hodgkins applied on behalf of Messrs Stewart and Gow for an agricultural lease in run 328. The application was referred to the Chief Surveyor for advice. A letter was read from the Town Clerk of West Hawksbury intimating the willingness of the Council to have the reserves leased. The Board considered the Bye-laws relative to the Traquair Hundred. They were approved of. r Mr J. W. J. Steward, M.H R,, and J. Church, secretary to the Oamaru Hospital Committee, applied to have the endowment land placed on a more satisfactory footing. The communication was read, and the Board expressed an opinion that the land should not be so’d. Mr H. Moire applied to purchase an island on the Clutha river, section 46, block 2, Hillend, The land was ordered to be sold as land of special value, at an upset price of L2 2s.
