EARLY CLOSING.
To the Editor. Sir, —Having seen several letters of late in the daily papers respecting the early closing movement, I wish to say a few words concerning the same. Being a sufferer through the ill effects of late shopping, I think if the employers of Dunedin were to pay all wages on the Friday night, that would enable all hands to shop on the forenoon of Saturday. There is one class of tradespeople more especially requiring our aid, and that is the hairdressers, who, I am informed, commence business on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m , and work until 12 p.m., and some go again on Sunday till 1 p.m., when they leave off, more fit to go to bed than to enjoy themselves with their families, or to attend Divine worship. this appeal will not be made in vain, and apologising for trespassing upon your valua- . able space, lam &c., • . A Sufferer. Dunedin, March 17.
