The objects of the Company are the establishment in Dunedin of the ancient Roman or dot-air Bath, familiarly known under the name of the Turkish Bath, together with Sulphur, Vapor, and the ordinary Hot, Cold, and Shower Baths, &c. It is proposed in the first instance to lease a suitable building, and to fit the same up for that purpose, at an estimated coat of rive hundred pounds, which aum the promoters are assured by Mr W. S. Burton, who has had a long and varied experience in the erection and conduct of Turkish Baths in London and the Colonies, will be ample. The successful establishment of the Turkish Bath in the neighboring Colonies, where from at first being an expensive luxury, it has now become the every day necessity of the population, induces the promoters to believe that a similar establishment in Dunedin will be appreciated by the public, and result in success in a pecuniary sense. The use of the Turkish Bath is widely recommended by the medical profession, especially jp %o treatment of Rheumatism, Sciatica, Neuralgia, Lumbago, Colds, &c, &c.; and the Otago Turkish Bath will no doubt prove a great boon to many sufferers from these complaints. It is not, however, for the sick only that the Turkish Bath will be Jound beneficial. Its use is pf immense advantage to the strong and healthy. Thp simplicity of its treatment, together with the power it exercises in preventing and relieving the body from disease, is fully acknowledged by all who use them. It is proposed to fix the charges at the lowest remunerative price, so as to bring them within the means of all classes of the community. The prise for a single bath will not exceed three shillings. The promoters of this Company have every confidence that, in placing this mine before the public, they are offering a really valuable mining property, and one which will undoubtedly prove payable, as past results have been such as to leave little doubt of future prospects The present proprietor (Mr J. T. Stephenson) having exhausted all his capital, over L 2,500, in prospecting and developing the mine, has now determined tp offer it to the public, and for his interest he retains 1,500 shares pt 20s paid up, and also receives L 1,35 >in cash. A considerable quantity pf stone (over 700 tons) has been raised and crushed during prospecting, which has averaged one ounce to the ton, and as a greater depth is reached, the stone gives evidence of increasing richness. Two shafts have been sunk from the upper level to a depth of 80ft each, but, owing to the quantity of water in the reef, the sinking has in the meantime been suspended ; but the tunnel, now in course of construction—in over 140ft—will not only dram die reef to the depth of 460 ft, but will °P ei L i ll P extensive field of quartz capable o affording continuous crushings. Nearly 600 shares are already applied for by residents in Cromwell, where the mine is well known and highly thought of.
