THE CITY ELECTION.
The polling for a member tt> represent the the Provincial Council, in the room of Mr Bathgate, resigned, took place to-day, and resulted in the return of Mr Reeves.* The only excitement observable was tpwasds the close of the of the poll; but, on the whole, the electian wrs quietly conducted. At 4.40 p.m. Returning Officer Street declared the state of the poll to be as follows :
