The Omeo left Melbourne at 6.30 p.m. on the 28th, and arrived at the Bluff at 10 a.m. on the 6th. _ She brings thirty saloon passengers, including twenty-six of the English Opera Company ; also thirty-five steerage passengers, 410 tons of cargo, seventy six horses, and 107 rams, for all ports. She sails for Dunedin at 6 p.m. . Hokitika. March 5. The Superintendent made the financial statement last night, and also tabled estimates and estimated expenditure for the year—£Bß,ooo receipts, and £86,000 expenditure. _ . Christchurch, March 6. It is rumoured here that the New Zealand Shipping -Company and the agents of Messrs Shaw, Saville, and Co. have made arrangements by which the rates of freight to London will bo increased from 45s to 555. The Interprovincial Regatta is fixed for Friday, March 27. All the entries roust be in the hands of the secretary by noon of the 24th March. The events comprise champion fouroared out-rigger for Ll5O ; four-oared out-rigger for LSO; a pair-oared out-rigger for L 25 ; scullers’ race for Lls; Rob Roy canoe for L 5. It will be a straight course for the first, four events. The. ram fair takes place to-day. The entries numbers 1,300. m _ Napier, March 6. The > survey of a site for a bridge across Ahuriri harbor has been commenced. Colonel Herick’s house at Rutuniwha was burned down, and nothing saved. The following are the entries for the Hawke’s Bay Stakes :—Major Pitt’s Marquis, Mr Watt’s Hatred, Mr Redwood’s Kakapo, Mr Smith’s Rattling Raven, Mr Stevens’s Islesman, Mr Munn’s Ben Nevis, Tangata, and Maori Weed.
