The band of the Artillery Company competed on .Saturday for their; Challenge Cup and money prizes, the conditions being five shots at 300, 400, and 500 yards, second class targets, and any position throughout The following are the prize-takers with their scores, the handicaps bging added man Cowie, 50, the Cup } Band, Patou 49, 2nd prize; Band. Hannagan, 43, 3rd prize ; Band, flyndman, 41, 4th prize; Band. Keys, 41, slh prize ; Baud. Connelly, 30, 6th prize. The three highest prize-takers fired in the morning squad, and had every advantage in point of weather, the afternoon squad shooting in a “juvenile” gale. NAPIER RIFLES V. GUARDS, The City Guards fired this morning at Waikari against the Napier Rifles. The conditions were in all respects the same as for the first set of district prizes. The weather was fair, the wind being N. W. to begin with, but changed round to B.W. and ultimately died away light and variable The Guards should have fired last Wednesday, but the downpour of rain that day prevented them,.
