THE VOLUNTEERS.
REPRESENTATIVE FIRING AT NAPIER. The Wairoa Volunteers fired on the 13th instant, when two members were qualified, Lieutenant Power and Volunteer Parker, who scored 92 and 84 points respectively. As one representative only is allowed for the Napier and Wairoa districts, Volunteer Greer, having made the highest score will be chosen to represent Hawke’s Bay, the other four competitors being entitled to fire for the prizes in the same manner as those legally qualified, except that the Government will incur no expense whatever on their account. At the Nap’er range Volunteer Greer made 98 points ; Vol. Guy, 90; and Corporal Renouf, 80 With five infantry and three cavalry representatives, Napier stands a good chance of holding her own against the other Provinces in the coming contest.
