ONE FOR HIS NOB.

To the Editor. Siß»—ln the 1 Educational Gazette* of the present month (a journal published in Weilington) there is an article on annual examinations. The papers used at the annual examination of our girls’ High School are published, and no doubt these papers have been the means of bringing the enlightened views of the writer before the public. The article may be very good in its way, and the subject one which deserves being brought prominently before that class of people for whom the * Gazette’ is chiefly intended, but 1 think the Editor has shown a spirit the reverse of that which ought to characterise the Editor of every public journal when he allows his prejudices to carry him so far as to publish a paper with what any man having ihe least pretensions to common sense would see was a printer’s mistake, and calling the attention of bis readers to it by inserting “(sec)” after the words. The word referred to was substantative, instead of subjunctive, in a French paper. Allow me to remark, for the information of the Editor of the * Educational Gazette, * that the Girls’ High School spell the word “ gauge” with the •* a” before tho “ u,” not as he spells it. Perhaps the Editor will be more discerning as to what are typographical errors in future.—l am, &c. On K who is not a B.A. Dunedin, February 13.
