WASTE LAND BOARD.

The usual meeting of the Board was held to-day. Present: Messrs J. T. Thomson. Bastings, Clark, Reid, Strode, and Butterworth. George Cameron applied to lease 75 acres of blook 7, Waipahce district. The Board expressed an opinion that it would be unfair to the other settlers to lease it without public notice. The matter was remitted for the Banger to report upon the whole question as to the desirability of granting such leases in the absence of public notice. Messrs Connell and Moodie applied, on behalf of Messrs Crawford and Youngson, to Surchase five acres of land adjoining that of It Patterson’s, near the township of Tapanui. It was explained that the object was to erect machinery for the manufacture of doors, window sashes, Ac., and, with that view, to take advantage of a tail-iace in Patterson’s property. Theground was ordered to be surveyed, and put up to auction at the upset price of L 3 per acre, Messrs Gillies and Street applied, on behalf ef Anthony Milligan, to purchase about seven acres of bush reserve, part of section 60, block 5, Hawksbury. The Banger was instructed to report. Mr John H. Herbert applied to purchase as much of the village reserve adjoining section 1, block 2, Greenvalo, as would enable him to fence clear of the lagoon. A license to occupy was granted under clause 161, at LI per annum, to enclose wbat is absolutely necessary for enabling him to fence his property, An application by Mr Wm. Pcrcival to purchase sections 1 and 2, block 7, sections 1, 2, 3, and 4, block 8, Blueskin village, was adjourned. An application by Mr D. Findlay for a Kcense tp pepupy the Lighthouse Eeserve at Waikawa, for grazing'purposes, was refused. Mr W. A. Mprris, manager for the Otago and Southland Investment Company, protested against tlje withdrawal from sale of sections Igt and part of 16, block Waipahce. The ground was ordered to be sold with the road line, as shown in the map. Messrs j. and A. Bathgate applied on bphalf of Messpa Durwapd and Co., Kyeburn, foe a efial leasp of two acres adjoining their present lease. The application was reserved for the penholders’ consent. Mr G. F. 0. Brown protested against H. Bpnge mining for lignite in Crown lauds in the locality in which he held his lease. The Banger was instructed to carry out the law in terms of section 93 of the Waste Land Act 1872. ' MrR. W. Capstick was appointed auctioneer for the Tokomairiro district, and Mr W Hay for Lawrence, Mr Stanbrook, auctioneer, Clyde, w.fts requested to edrry out his engage* i»^n^^' ca^on by Messrs Fletcher and M‘Gillm»y fpr a lease of 15 acres of Wyndhem Village Reserve was refused. An application by Theodore Bussell to purchase a piece of land in Pembroke under clause 29 was refused, the Board having no power to act in the matter. The sale of sections 12, 13, and 16, block 8, Qlenfcenich, by auction, was ordered to proceed. Mr Boberts applied for pre-emptive right on tun 213b. A survey was ordered to be furnished. On the motion of Mr Bastings, it was agreed that in future all pre-emptive rights be granted strictly in terras of the regulations in regard to frontages. An application by Mr Almao for part of the Ocean Beach Bush Reserve, near Anderson’s Bay, was refused.
