Santa Anna is reported to be living in Mexico in a condition of poverty. Next session, Mr Bennett, of the ‘ New York Herald,’ means to have his own reporters in the House of Commons, and to publish a daily report of the debates. A discovery has been made in Loudon which leads the police to suspect that an establishment similar to that kept by Margaret Waters, the notorious baby-farmer, exists in the neighbourhood of Camberwell. For some time past the bodies of dead children have been picked up in South London, all bearing marks of violence. At Homo and Abroad. —The lady who tapped her husband gently with a fan at a party the other night, and said, “ Love, it’s growing late; I think we had better go home,” is the same one who, after getting home, shook the rolling-pin under his nose and said, “You infernal old scoundrel, you ; if you ever look again at that mean, nasty, calico-faced, mackerel-eyed thing you looked at to-night, I’ll bust your head wide open.”
