Latest. A seaman belonging to the Wave Queen, named Richard Knott, was drowned while endeavoring to rescue the crew of the cutter Challenger. George Arnoff, ore of the Challenger’s crew, was also drowned. The Challenger was wrecked on Eangitoto. The men clung on the rocks until the two mentioned wore washed off exhausted. A man named Washington is believed to be lost from the yacht Colum bria, which was wrecked at Breakwater. Four Maoris arc also reported to have been lost. The ‘ Cross’ estimates the damage done by the gale to the shipping and in the city at L 12,390.
