Business during the week has been rather slack, the holidays and harvesting having interfered very much with business. The market is well supplied with sugars, but prices are rather easier. A small shipment of Tennant’s ale is to hand, and sold during the week in small parcels at full rates. Porter Continues unchanged for prime parcels. We are informed that several parcels of stout, out' of condition, have been landed. Candles may be quoted at lid, but the stock is rather light. Rice maintains it rise, on account of the small quantity in the market, and is not 1 likely to recede. Butter is in better demand, and prices are rather easier. Good parcels readily feteh Bd, Brandies are coming in more freely, But, on account of the price at Home quotations remain unchanged. ’ A Mercer, reports for the week ending 24th January (retail prices .only) Fresh. butter, in prints, best quality, Is per lb; second quality, lid per ,Ib. ’Fresh butter, in lumps, , 9d to 194 per lb.
