The Governor sent the commuiucatidn to Castoba, commander of the Tornado, which was at Santiago de Cuba, and'that vessel" left in a few hours in pursuit. This brought the Virginus to, when the Tornado sent two atmfed b9ate alongside, who took possession of the vessel, and made prisoners of all on board They transferred some to the Tornado, pud placed a prize crew on the Virginus. She then sailed for Santiago de Guba. where she arrived at 5 p.m! The next day the inteliigence of the capture caused great rejoicing A court martial was held on the Tornado on the 2nd, all the crew of the VirginiusSbeihg tried as pirates, and the sentence‘of the OoUrt sent to the Captaiu-General in a sealed packet. All the prisoners, except Hyan ! Uelsot, Benita, and Cespedes, were then placed in the city gaol. At six a.m., on November 4, Cespedes, Delsot, Benita, and Byan ’were shot, in presence of all-the Volunteers and an immense crowd of citizens. ” * N Z Herald,’ 6th.
