SUSPICIOUS FIRE IN PRINCES STREET.

The adjourned inquiry touching the origin of the. lire discovered at the Prince of Wales dotel. Princes street south, on the morning of the 21st was held before 'Jr Uocken at thu Imperial Hotel at 2.30 p.ra to-day. '1 he Coroner : 1 regret to say the inquiries of the ponce have fade I to discover the slightest clue to the perpetrator of this ad of incendiarism—for I think you will have very little doubt that that is the nature of die case. It has been suggested that it might have been the act of some intoxicated man-indeed one of the witnesses, who lighted a lire to warm himself after sleeping out all night. But 1 think that is not at all tenable, imsmuch as there was a small fire found further on. 1 have no doubt your ver diet will be to the effect that the fire was tinwork of an incendiary, leaving it to th> podee and time to endeavor to discover the perpetrator. The Foreman ; We have arrived at an open verdict, but I would suggest, and my brother jurors agree with me, that a reward should be offered in cases of this kind, either by the Government or the Insurance Companies. Certainly some one has been guilty of a crime, and a reward may be a very good way of finding it out. The Coroner thoght the suggestion a good one, and undertook to forward it to the proper quarter.
