Mr s mith, for the Bank of Australasia, examined bankrupt as follows :-'f 1 ho debt to the Bank to the amount of Lfs6 13s was an overdraft m-apted in tr.e ordinary course of business. Remembered telling Mg Apdepm that he expected a sum of money left fco his wife In her late stepmother, but did not say the amount would be about 1,7,000. The Waterworks and .South British Insurance Company shares transferred to Messrs Hull aud Turtou were the property of witness’s wife, bought with her money. Had told
Mr Anderson that a sum of L 250 was due to him from Driver, Stewart, and Co. for the goodwill of the business, but bad not received that amount. A settlement upon witness's wife was made before their marriage. Had not paid Messrs Herbert, Haynes any m ney since filing. Mr Smith then stated that he saw no ground for opposing bankrupt's discharge. — dis Honor thought the expenses shown appeared rather heavy for a ••downhill ’ business, but granted a discharge. ivE Michael M‘Cakthy and ke James M‘Neil Simpsox. —These applications were adjourned by con-sent to January 12.
